Data Recovery Business - Exploring Options

If your answer to any of the above questions is a big “yes”, I will give you an idea on harping on a new opportunity that has remained unexplored or, better said, has not been touched by many. Yes, I was indeed talking about setting up a data recovery business. The business is still in the nascent stage and is bound to hit the skies in the years to come.

I would like to go forward making a basic assumption that you know what data recovery is about. Fasten your seatbelts.

Data Recovery - Seeing Beyond the Obvious

You must be aware of the fact that the Internet today has indeed created a revolution. With e-commerce setting new trends, people have become computer-savvy. Online businesses are the talk of the day. Technology is making rapid advances that today people have one million reasons to use a computer. Be it for personal use or an official business, computers have indeed changed the ways we live and communicate with each other.

All are happy as long things are working fine. However, imagine what happens when these computers break down. People find themselves totally helpless groping in the dark for help. Thanks to the many viruses working behind the scenes that take away the sole credit of creating this multi-billion dollar industry.

You might be wondering as to where you fit into this picture. A good question asked at the right time. And, this is where you pitch in. Yes, data recovery is the uncontested answer to this problem. In the first place, you get personal satisfaction by helping people out of their misery. In the process, you can make a decent living out of helping people. Sounds like a plan, doesn’t it?

Large corporations usually have an IT department that usually takes care of this problem. Imagine the plight of the millions of users like you and me who do not have the slightest of clue as to how to handle these issues. Don’t you think that these folks need your help? Of course, they do.

Business Models

Closely studying this situation, I have arrived at three business models that you can use to set up your data recovery business. Trust me that all the three are proven models and are bound to work for you.

Business Model 1: The Business Consultant Model

This is a model which I would suggest for people who are technically qualified and sound. For this you need to transform yourself into an expert data recovery specialist. To achieve this status, you need to get yourself trained in data recovery methods and technologies with either an expert in the field or a certified training institute. You can initially start off doing small things and gradually expand to take up more complicated tasks. However, I caution you to be a bit extra careful. You are dealing with people’s valuable data.

Business Model 2: The Franchise Model

This model usually works for everybody. You might have heard of McDonalds famous franchise system. All that you need to do in this model is to act as a middleman between the actual customers and the large data recovery companies. You need to collect the damaged storage medium from your customer and ship it to the data recovery company. Similarly, after recovering the data you need to hand it over back to the customers. For doing this, companies will pay you a huge commission. Easy, isn’t it?

Business Model 3: The Affiliate Model

This model is very much similar to the franchise model except that it pertains to the Internet. This is the simplest of all models. You need not hold an office or take the burden of shipping hard disks to and fro. When you sign up with these companies, you will be provided with an affiliate id. All that you need to do is to use online marketing techniques such as using a pay-per-click search engine like Google to post your link. People visiting the company’s website through your link will be your leads. The moment they pay for the service, you will be provided a commission by the company. This is even easier, isn’t it?

Data Recovery Business – The Final Word

Now, that I have given you all the options, what are you waiting for? I don’t see anything stopping you.
All the Best!
